A Riddle For The Ages
It isn't about whether or not you unlock the long buried secrets of an ancient genius and change the world forever - it's about having fun. At least, that's what my mother used to tell me. And in that respect, Da Vinci's Secret scores an illustrious five.In fact, I'm pretty that Da Vinci's secret was that fun is more important than anything else.
You play the role of Helen, whose uncle just passed away. While rifling through your deceased uncle's belongings, you come across an ancient manuscript. To try and make sense of it, you bring it to world-renowned expert (at what we're never told) Professor Gallagher. After some lightning-fast thinking, he deduces this: Leonardo Da Vinci was in possession of a Holy relic that was somehow related to Jesus Christ. Going off of a clue that the professor found in the manuscript, you begin your quest for this artifact at the Mona Lisa. However, this is only the first step in what turns out to be a whirlwind adventure!
Unique Gameplay
This game features some very unique gameplay, the likes of which I haven't seen before. Each level presents you with a board full of marbles of various colors. Every level also includes a key and a lock. In order to pass the round, you must get the key to the lock. That alone sounds simple, but don't be fooled. In order to so you will have to clear a path through the marbles by matching colors. When you match three marbles (when they are touching), they'll disappear. To move a piece, click on the piece that you want to move, then click any destination on the board that is completely unobstructed. You must be careful, though, because every move that you make that doesn't result in a match brings forth more marbles. You can see these replacements starting to crop up on the board in the form of tiny, slightly opaque versions of their bigger selves. This allows you to think ahead and apply some strategy to your game. Hopefully you can use this to your advantage. It if happens too often, though, you may find yourself in a situation that you can't get out of.
The game has a wonderfully implemented difficulty system. It definitely gets harder as you progress, but your skill builds as well. You're never stuck somewhere for too long, but you don't exactly breeze through the levels either. The clever thing about the game is it has a very friendly, simple feel to it, so you're never expecting the challenges that you face. This helps keep you on your toes at all times. You'll also encounter new elements, such as balls wrapped in chains and bombs that will blow everything up. It all makes for a fun and varied experience.
A Secret Worth Telling
At first, I had my reservations about this game. I was afraid that it would be just another attempt to cash in on the popular Da Vinci Code phenomenon and little else. Fortunately, I was pleasantly surprised. Da Vinci's Secret is easy to recommend to anyway, and I'm doing just that!Download : Davinci's Secret
